We are a volleyball family. Between the middle school program and junior olympics. We live in volleyball mode about 8 out of 12 months a year. The parents all have so much fun together cheering for the girls and watching the girls grow in their skills.
For the middle school team I tend to do a lot of team mom type activities, such as hosting the team bonding night and creating treats for the championship games. One of my favorite things to put in the treat bags are the protein clusters. They are easy to make, taste delicious and are both a healthy option as well as good protein to help them through the day. Here is my twist on the recipe.
4 scoops of vanilla muscle gain
1 cup of oats
1 cup of almonds
1 cup of peanut butter (I use Jiff)
1 cup of honey
1/2 cup of coconut
1/2 cup of mini chocolate chips
1/3 cup of protein powder
- Blend oats, almonds and coconut together to make a powder
- Stir in remaining ingredients
- Coop and roll to form balls and set on a cookie sheet
- Refrigerate for 2 hours.
*Makes approx. 35 small clusters
In addition to the clusters, I also put in bags of carrots & cucumbers and chips. I also added a mini candy bar, but sshhhhh, do not tell their coaches. 🙂
Of course, I brewed myself a cup of coffee and sampled a couple of the clusters. I had to make sure they tasted alright for the girls.
The treat bags were a success and although the clusters may not look the prettiest, they are delicious and very addictive.
